This website has begun to feature electric L category vehicles. Initially we will aim to pick up on the most popular models, before expanding to include the full current UK market. Now you can use the “Compare” feature to look at figures such as price and electric cost per mile on motorcycles, cars and vans side by side. L Category vehicles are sometimes known as Motorcycles, but can include any motorised vehicle up to a certain weight and power. So far there are only 2 wheelers, tricycles and quadricycles but there could be a motorised unicycle one day.

Currently any electric vehicle is exempt from VED though this will change in April 2025. If the company provides an employee with an L Category, it will be subject to Benefit In Kind tax on 20% of its price and so is more suitable for business use. A Citroen Ami will be taxed at ten times the rate of a Citroen electric car in 2023 for instance.
