The ULED will provide a single 100% discount from the congestion charge for all electric vehicles and for qualifying ultra low emission cars and vans.
In order for vehicles to qualify, they will have to be either fully electric (run solely on batteries) or be cars and vans emitting 75g/km or less of CO2. These vehicles will also be required to meet the Euro 5 emission standard for air quality in order to qualify. ‘Vans’ includes light goods vehicles not exceeding 3.5 tonnes. Plug-in hybrid cars and vans have additional electric range and top speed criteria and TfL will publish a list of eligible vehicles.
If you have already registered for the EVD you will be automatically transferred to the new ULED on 1st July 2013.
The GVD will close to new registrations on Friday 28th June 2013. For those drivers who have invested in low emission cars, registering before the 28th June will allow them to continue to receive a full discount for that vehicle for a further three years until 24th June 2016. This is known as the ‘sunset period’.
